Thats so VANILLA!!!

We buy all our Vanilla from the Ndali Estate in Malawi, which was established in order to rejuvenate the community of Ndali in the 1990s. Today, it buys its vanilla crop from 1000 farmers in the surrounding region for a price five times greater than the conventional price. The estate also helps other farmers to grow coffee, banana gin and has established an inn to promote tourism and international exposure. To learn more, please go to:

Fairtrade Cocoa!!!

We make chocolate using cocoa from the Conacado co-op in the Dominican Republic. The coop is made up of more than 9500 members, organized in 9 blocks, with 142 local associations. This allows small farmers to use a centralized drying, fermenting, and storage centre to facilitate and maintain the highest quality of organic cocoa for fair trade export. The success of the co-op has allowed funding for local school supplies and scholarships, road and well production projects, the improvement of local clinics and the establishment of eco-tourism projects to diversify income sources and give grants to women run organizations…. And this is just to name a few!!!

Fair Trade Coffee!!!

We only use coffee from the Huatusco Co-op in Mexico, a co-op of nearly 2000 members (including over 600 women) that focuses on finding new and better ways to cultivate and market cocoa beans in order to lift their community out of extreme poverty.

The success of the coop has allowed them to open schools in rural areas, while also teaching surrounding communities about crop diversification, organic production and rotation in order to improve local productivity.  The success has also allowed for the establishment of a credit program that funds infrastructural growth projects, such as road construction, and has also allowed for the opening of rural health clinics. Its all inside the pint!!!

Did you know that one bite of Ben and Jerry’s delicious ice cream helps more than 14500 people live better lives every single day! Yes sir, you are giving back simply by eating! It’s all inside the pint!!!

Our milk is produced by the St. Alban’s Cooperative Creamery, a co-op of 463 local Vermont farms that produces more than 3 million pints of FDA approved organic, and rbGH free milk each and every day. The co-op works in conjunction with the Dairy Stewardship Alliance, which teaches and maintains the highest quality of production methods to other local farmers. For the last 8 years, the co-op remains debt free and profitable!!!
